Fall 2021

Fall Semester 2021

Schedule
First day of classes: Friday Sept 3rd
No class: Labor Day Sept 6, Fall Break Oct 14&15, Thanksgiving the week of Nov 22nd
Last day of regular classes: The week of Dec 6th. The  week of the 13th will be for finishing projects.

Pricing
I realized I have been spending too much of my time working  to collecting monthly payments. So going forward I will ask pre-payment for the full semester. Please venmo (AllisonNelson@sewfabulousutah), send cash, or check before the first day of class. If this is a hardship for your family please contact me directly.

For the 75 min class
13 weeks of class $250 (this includes a materials fee)

For the 60 min class
13 weeks of class $200 (this includes a materials fee)

Masks
Depending on how things progress, I might require masks in the sewing room. If this is a deal breaker for you, you might want to sit this semester(year?) out. Unfortunately I think it fairly likely.

 Summer 2021

Summer classes run once a week at my home in Mapleton (790 E 300 N).  To participate I require a commitment for the full summer program which is a total of 8 weeks. Because families frequently travel during the summer, I will guarantee at least 1 make-up lesson during the summer. These will usually take place on a Saturday. However, if you can let me know in advance that you will be missing a class, often I can find someone to switch days with you and we may not need a make-up lesson.

My schedule this year:
Classes are on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesdays. Classes begin June 28 and finish the week of Aug 16th. ( I will reschedule Mon July 5th & Wed Aug 18th classes)

Time choices are:
8:30-10:00am & 6:30-8:00pm

Please email me your top two preferred times.

Fees:
$175 for the 8 weeks. Please venmo this total or send a check before the first day. Built into my fee is a materials fee. This is for the use of my elastic, thread, interfacing, machines etc. However, you still need you to purchase certain items (fabric, zippers, polyfill etc.)

Waiver
Release and Waiver                                                            Date__________________________
1)    I am the legal guardian of the student.
2)    I understand that there is risk of injury from the activities involved in the sewing lessons offered at 790 E 300 N Mapleton UT. These sewing lessons involve the use of tools and equipment that can cause injury. These tools and equipment include but are not limited to : scissors, seam rippers, sewing machines, sergers, rotary cutter, irons, and pins and needles.
3)    I understand that although safety measures are taught and encouraged by the teacher, it is my responsibility to decide if my student is qualified to participate in sewing lessons and safely handle the tools and equipment on their own. I realize my student will not always be supervised while using these tools and equipment. I assume all risk, including injury to the student and accept personal responsibility for any potential damages, including any financial expense arising from the participation.

If your child is brand new to sewing, please bring 3/4 yard fabric and 1/2 yard of coordinating fabric on the first day. For returning students if you have ideas of what you would like to make, text me and I can tell you how much fabric to bring the first day. Or you can bring a yard or two of your favorite fabric and we can find a project for it (this way we won’t waste any time). As always you are welcome to either use my machines or bring one from home if you wish to use your own machine.

 Spring Semester 2021

Covid Policy

Even though there will only be 4 people in the room at a time, because we are in a fairly small space, we better all wear masks in class (we can make some cute masks!) I will also try to keep a window cracked. I always try to make it really easy to make-up missed classes, so I would ask that you not send kids with any type of sickness to class--whether it looks like covid symptoms or otherwise.

Make-up classes: If you give me at least 4 hours of notice that you will be missing a class, I will put your name on my make-up list and text you when I have an opening. If it's shorter notice than this, I'm sorry, I probably can't get you a make-up class.

Dates:

Classes begin: Thursday  Jan 7, Friday Jan 8 , Saturday Jan 9

Mon Jan 11 & Wednesdays Jan 13

Classes end the first week of May

No class:

I will be out of town Jan 28-30 (this is why Thurs-Sat begin early)

President's day weekend Feb 12-15th

Spring break the week of  April 5th

Pricing:

For the 75 min class:

$66/month, for 4 months, Jan, Feb, March & April (we will end the first week of May).

If you pay for the full semester before the first day of class you can save $14 and only pay $250

For the 60 min class:

$55/month, for 4 months, Jan, Feb, March & April (we will end the first week of May) If you pay for the full semester before the first day of class you can save $14 and only pay $206

Fall 2020

 Fall 2020 Sewing

Covid Policy

Even thought there will only be 4 people in the room at a time, because we are in a fairly small space, we better all wear masks in class (we can make some cute masks!) I will also try to keep a window cracked. I will wipe down all sewing machines, cutting tables, and supplies each day. The students spaces are roughly 5' apart. Please note this is short of the 6' recommendation. Also, teaching sewing by nature often requires me to stand right next to students. I will always wear a mask. But please understand that if you send your kids to class there is some risk you will have to assume. I always try to make it really easy to make-up missed classes, so I would ask that you not send kids with any type of sickness to class--whether it looks like covid symptoms or otherwise. Thank you!

Classes begin: for Monday & Saturday classes: August: 24th & 29th

For the 60 min class:

I am not going to start a new service project yet, I have some great ones in mind. I still have several fidget blankets that need to be sewn. If your student has not sewn a fidget blanket yet, i'd love it if they could--all the supplies are free. One student made a quilt out of them for a child with Autism. Please think of anyone you might know who could benefit from one. I can donate the blankets when finished,  but you can also give them away yourselves if you know someone personally.

Make-up lessons: When a mother texts me at least 2 hrs in advance that her student will be missing a lesson, her name is put on a list of people to call when I have an open spot. If you have an upcoming conflict, please only tell me a week in advance. I can only keep track of one week ahead.  I do not guarantee make-up lessons even if you give me notice. But I will try, as a favor to you, to offer you one. However, sometimes it just doesn’t work out
